Your privacy, clearly explained

Privacy Policy

This policy explains how File Sizer: Resize & Compress handles information when you use the Android app.

Effective date Applies to package
com.henryio.filesizer

1. Scope and overview

Your files stay on your device. File Sizer processes the photos, PDFs, and other files you select locally. The developer does not receive or upload the contents of those files. The app is ad-supported, so Google AdMob separately processes certain device and usage information to provide and measure ads.

This Privacy Policy applies only to the File Sizer Android app published by Henry McLaughlin. File Sizer does not require an account and does not ask you to provide your name, address, phone number, or payment information.

2. Information the app handles

Files you select

File Sizer accesses only the items you choose through Android's system file picker or share menu. File contents are used on-device to resize, crop, convert, compress, preview, save, or share an output.

Local export records

The app stores finished exports and basic history details—such as the file name, type, path, and before-and-after size—in its private app storage so you can find and share recent results.

Advertising data

Google Mobile Ads SDK may automatically collect and share IP address, app interactions, diagnostic information, Android advertising ID, app set ID, and other applicable device or account identifiers.

Consent choices

Google's User Messaging Platform may store and communicate your advertising privacy choices so the app can request an appropriate ad. The choices available depend on your region and applicable law.

Approximate location: File Sizer does not request device location permission. Google may use an IP address to estimate a device's general location for advertising, analytics, and fraud prevention.

3. How information is used

File Sizer uses locally handled file information to:

  • perform the file operation you request;
  • show previews, progress, results, and recent export history;
  • save an output to a location you choose or share it with an app you select; and
  • recover ordinary app settings and history metadata through Android backup, when device backup is enabled.

Google may use advertising data to provide ads, measure performance, analyze interactions, prevent fraud and abuse, and—when permitted by your choices—personalize advertising.

4. When information is shared

File contents

File contents are not shared with the developer, AdMob, or another service by File Sizer. If you choose Share or save to an external provider, Android sends the output to the destination you selected; that destination's privacy practices then apply.

Google advertising services

File Sizer uses Google AdMob and Google's User Messaging Platform. Those services may collect and share the advertising data described above with Google and its advertising partners. Google states that data collected by its Mobile Ads SDK is encrypted in transit.

Learn more in How Google uses information from apps that use its services, the Google Privacy Policy, and Google's Mobile Ads SDK data disclosure.

5. Data retention and deletion

  • Original files: File Sizer reads selected originals only as needed to complete your request and does not create a developer-controlled cloud copy.
  • Temporary files: Temporary working files are removed after processing when possible; Android may also clear app cache automatically.
  • Exports and history: Finished exports and their history remain in File Sizer's private storage until you remove app data or uninstall the app. Copies you save elsewhere must be deleted from that location separately.
  • Android backup: If device backup is enabled, Android may back up app preferences and history metadata to your Google account. File Sizer's exported files are excluded from its Android cloud-backup configuration. You can manage backup through Android and your Google account.
  • Advertising data: Google controls retention and deletion for data it processes through AdMob. See Google's privacy controls and policies for details.

Because File Sizer has no user accounts and the developer does not receive your files, there is no developer-held account or file library to delete on request.

6. Your privacy choices

  • Choose which files the app can access using Android's system picker.
  • Review available ad choices from About → Manage ad choices when that option is required in your region.
  • Reset or delete your Android advertising ID in your device's privacy settings.
  • Remove local app data using Android's Settings → Apps → File Sizer → Storage → Clear storage, or uninstall the app.
  • Delete outputs saved outside File Sizer using your device's file or photo manager.

7. Children's privacy

File Sizer is a general-purpose utility and is not directed to children under 13. The developer does not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to the developer, contact us so it can be addressed.

8. Security

File Sizer limits file access to items you select and performs its core processing on-device. App exports are stored in private Android app storage until you intentionally save or share them. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and third-party services remain governed by their own security practices.

9. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when File Sizer's features, data practices, third-party services, or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top of this page will be revised when an update is published. Material changes will be communicated through the app or store listing when appropriate.
